Patrick Henry was a colonial delegate representing Virginia Colony, the largest of the Thirteen Colonies. He wanted to encourage the leaders of the colony to join in the fight which was to become the Revolutionary War. When the delegates took a vote following his speech, they decided that Virginia Colony should join the war effort.
